Transfer Course Equivalency Information

The transfer course equivalencies helps users find existing transfer credit equivalencies on record with The Ohio State University. Students should always consult with their academic advisor before completing coursework at another institution.

Current Transfer Course Equivalencies and Tentative Evaluations for Current Students

  • Visit Transferology to view how your courses will transfer, or find an equivalent course to take at another school. It's free, easy, and accessible!
  • The Transfer Course Quick Equivalencies Excel list allows users to find existing transfer credit equivalencies on file with the University Registrar office. The information is updated monthly. Effective dates on the excel workbook show the academic terms that the transfer rule was in place. Terms are shown in a five-digit code where the first four digits refer to the year and the last digit refers to the academic term as follows:
    • Example: 20024 20093 (this transfer rule is valid for course work completed between Fall 2002 and Summer 2009)
      • 1 = Winter
      • 2 = Spring
      • 3 = Summer
      • 4 = Fall

Ohio State Quick Equivalencies (xslx)

If you are a current Ohio State student and plan to take a course at another college, it is important that you find out how the credit transfers back to Ohio State and applies toward your degree requirements. Follow these steps to determine how your courses will transfer to Ohio State:

  1. Prior to enrolling, discuss your plans with your Ohio State academic advisor. Your advisor can help you identify the courses that you are required to take for your Ohio State degree.
  2. Visit Transferology for information on how courses will transfer and apply toward your degree program at Ohio State. Use the Transferology Course Equivalency Guides to search for the particular course(s) that you are interested in taking, and use the Transferology Planning Guides to see how the course(s) will apply toward your Ohio State degree. Once your equivalency is determined, skip to step 4. If you cannot find your course equivalency information in Transferology, proceed to step 3.
  3. If your course equivalency information is not on Transferology, you will need to contact the academic department for help in determining an Ohio State course equivalent. You may be asked to submit information such as course syllabi, text information or course descriptions in order for the department to be able to determine the course equivalency.
  4. After you have completed your coursework, contact the Registrar at that college for an official transcript to be sent to Ohio State.
