Enrollment Appointment Windows

First-year undergraduate students enroll with an advisor during orientation. Continuing students are assigned a date and time when they can register for classes for the next semester.

  • Prior to your enrollment appointments opening, you will receive an email from the University Registrar stating when your registration window will open.
  • Specific student registration appointment dates and times are also posted in My Buckeye Link in the Enrollment Information box. Select the details link for the exact time and day.
  • Once your appointment opens, log in to My Buckeye Link and follow the prompts to register for classes.

The Enrollment Center in My Buckeye Link contains all the tasks related to enrollment and registration.

The Office of the University Registrar does not assist students with course enrollment; you must contact your advisor or the office of the department or college in which you are enrolled.

Tips for a successful registration:

  1. For information regarding course offerings, go to the Class Search task on My Buckeye Link.  The icon by each course section indicates if seats are available. Select several alternate classes in case your first choice is not available when you register.
  2. Make an appointment to see your advisor or a faculty member before your registration appointment.
  3. Secure any required course permissions before you register. For classes requiring instructor / department consent, you must go to your advisor or college office while your appointment is open and have them post the permission and schedule the course for you.
Note: Obtaining permission to enroll in a class does not guarantee a seat in the class.
  4. Make sure you meet the prerequisite requirements for your class selections before you try to register.
  5. Check your My Buckeye Link for My To-Do List items and My Holds. Registration holds on your account must be cleared two business days before your registration appointment. Click on the details button in the Holds section of your My Buckeye Link for more information.
  6. Waitlist requests do not carry over from one term to the next. If you are put on a waitlist for a term, be sure to check your My Buckeye Link regularly as you may be scheduled into the class up until the first Friday of the semester. Learn more about the Waitlist at Ohio State.
    Note:
You will be charged for the class only if you move off of the waitlist.
  7. All students must agree to a Financial Responsibility Statement prior to registering for classes each term. A Registration Lock Hold appears on your My Buckeye Link until the statement is completed. To learn how to complete the statement, go to financial responsibility statement.
  8. In an effort to help students better plan for enrollment, Ohio State has a searchable website designed to allow faculty to upload class syllabi prior to enrollment, so that students may make more informed choices regarding the classes they plan to enroll in. Go to Syllabus Search to view class syllabi.
