You must have an eligible immigration status to qualify for Ohio residency for tuition purposes.  

If your current status is ineligible but you have filed an application to adjust your status, you may still apply for Ohio residency reclassification. Provide your receipt of application for change of status, or most recently received documentation related to that case (such as the I-797 Notice of Action), prior to beginning the reclassification application, or Online Residency Form. Documentation should include a receipt number that is verifiable via the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services' Case Status Search. 

Employment Authorization documentation alone is not sufficient proof of status.  

Note: Ohio Resident students with a pending immigration case must provide regular updates to confirm the progress of their application. If a student fails to provide an update, they will be subject to the non-resident surcharge and international student fee.
