How do I change my residency status?

You will need to apply online through your My Buckeye Link (current student) or Applicant Center (applicant to Ohio State). The directions can be found under the Online Residency Form section.

Where do I find the status of my residency application?

You will want to follow steps one through three when you are on the Online Residency Form. This will take you to your document list for the requested term. Your Student Residency Status will appear at the top of the page.

What do the different status types mean?

Documents Requested: This status will appear once you have completed the Online Residency Form and remain until all the requested documents have been received.

Ready for Review: This status will appear once all of the items on your document list have been received. This means that your file is ready to be processed, and a processor will be reviewing it within ten business days.

Review in Progress: This status will appear once your request is being reviewed by a processor.

Pending Additional Info: This status will appear if any additional documents are needed to complete your request. Please be sure to read the section labeled Notes to student (under your document list) for more detailed information.

Approved: This status will appear if your request has been approved according to the guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Higher Education.

Approved – Conditional: This status will appear if your application was approved based on the C-3 Guidelines (you need to submit the Online Residency Form each term of enrollment until your spouse, parent or legal guardian (that you are dependent upon) has submitted documentation for a full, twelve-month cycle) or E-1 Guidelines (you need to submit the Online Residency Form each term to obtain your Ohio residency status; once you have lived in Ohio for a full, twelve-month cycle, you may consider applying under the C-2 Guidelines).

Denied: This status will appear if your request has been denied according to the guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Higher Education. An explanation of exactly why you were denied will be listed in the Notes to Student section of the Online Residency Form.

Cancelled: This status will appear if you have not submitted the requested documents by the published deadline for the specified term.

Am I able to apply without completing the Online Residency Form?

No, you are required to complete the Online Residency Form if you wish to be considered an Ohio resident for the tuition subsidy. The online request allows you to see specific requested documents needed to process your application. You can also review the status of your application at any time.
