Transfer Credit

Departmental Transfer Credit Coordinator List

NOTE: If possible, please consult your academic advisor first. Use these departmental contacts only if directed to do so by your advisor, or when seeking evaluation prior to your orientation.

  1. Read the "Understanding Your Transfer Credit Report (Adobe File)" brochure for definitions of the transfer credit types.

  2. Meet with your academic advisor to determine if courses need further evaluation. If you are a new student, you will work with an advisor during your orientation program.

  3. If your advisor recommends that courses be further evaluated, contact the appropriate departmental Transfer Credit Coordinator.

  4. Regional campus students should contact an academic advisor at the campus to which they have been admitted for information about Transfer Credit Coordinators located on the regional campuses (Lima: 419-995-8600, Mansfield: 419-755-4011, Marion: 740-389-6786, Newark: 740-366-9333, and Wooster: 330-287-1331).

  5. Take your Transfer Credit Report and a copy of your transcript(s) to the appropriate Transfer Credit Coordinator (NOTE: Students are required to submit these documents before course work will be further evaluated). You should also be prepared to present additional materials (course descriptions, syllabi, titles of texts, notes, portfolio, etc.) if requested by the Transfer Credit Coordinator.

Suggestions:

  • Course work designated as "deferred" should be evaluated within your first quarter of enrollment. Evaluation of this course work may have an impact on your course scheduling and degree requirements. If your advisor has recommended evaluation of general, special, or technical credit, the evaluation of this course work prior to course registration should help you avoid registering for courses that may duplicate course work taken at your previous institution(s).

  • Area code is "614" unless otherwise noted.

  • Mailing address is "Columbus, OH 43210" unless otherwise noted.

  • Appeal form is only to be used after consulting with your academic advisor.

While a student may receive General credits which count toward graduation, the department does not award specific credit for these courses. Please provide the following materials:
  • DARS Transfer Credit Report (paper copy)
    • To find your Transfer Credit Report online, go to buckeyelink.osu.edu
    • Click on the “Students” tab
    • In "Students", scroll down to "Enrollment and Academic History" heading, click on “Transfer Credit Report”
    • Log in with name.nn, click second button on left for Transfer Credit Report
    • Click "Submit a new report"
    • Click on "Open Audit" for Transfer Credit Report
    • Print using the "Printer Friendly" link on the top right of the page

  • Detailed Syllabi-needs the name of the textbook, the author and list of sections covered
  • In addition International students need to provide
    • textbooks
    • original syllabi with title of textbook and author (it would be most helpful if all information is enclosed in a sealed envelope from the previous University)
    • certified translations of the syllabi with title of textbook and author

  • A copy of the transcript (International students:  copy of your original transcript and a certified translation of the transcript)

NOTE:
  • We will only accept materials that are personally yours, not your friends.  No exceptions.
  • We will evaluate your credit only one time.   We will NOT re-evaluate.  Therefore, you must have all your materials the first time.  No exceptions.
